Skateboarder Replaces Oxycodone with Cannabis After Shoulder Surgery
One of the best ways to learn about the benefits of cannabis is to hear first hand experience from people! We are delighted to share Trey’s story of how he choose cannabis as a natural form of pain management.
Trey Owens is an 19 year old skateboarder with medical card for cannabis here in Boulder, Colorado. Trey comes from a pro-cannabis family who support the use of plants and natural medicines. His Father, Matt Owens (Lab Manager) is a military trained bomb technician who chooses cannabis for its medicinal benefits. His Mom & Grandmother, Stephanie (Harvest Manager) and Melanie Craige (Packaging)
With the support of his family, Trey was able to choose cannabis to support recovery after his shoulder surgery!
He says, “I basically just replaced the oxy’s that the Doctor prescribed me for pain relief with cannabis products. Right now, I’ve been using dabs for immediate pain and relief from the discomfort. I’ve been eating edibles before bed to help me sleep. I just prefer dabs because I feel like they do actually help with the pain, unlike the narcotics that pretty much just give you a head high and maybe make you fall asleep, nothing much else.”
Types of Concentrates Trey Used for Pain Relief
He continued to give specifics which could provide an example of how much and what kind of concentrates worked for him, “For immediate pain relief, I used about 3 difference concentrates. Blueberry Rocks and Sauce, Blueberry Diamonds, Witch’s Berry Hashbergs, and some Guptilla Shatter. I really like the blueberry strains (by itself or hybrids) for pain relief specifically, but they also have a very nice calm and warm feel to them. Then the Guptilla I tried just for variety, and it was also nice and pain relieving.”
Edibles For Sleep
“For Edibles, when I’d eat them, I’d eat about 30mg (I have a pretty decent tolerance) of the Coda Cream and Crumbles. I’d be asleep probably within the hour to an hour and a half. The effects last long enough to help sleep throughout the night without much pain or discomfort.”
We are incredibly grateful for people like Trey for sharing their stories with cannabis, bringing light to this powerful plant!
